Training If you are new to diving, or are returning after a break, have a look at our Come and Try It page for details of how to have a go before deciding whether diving is right for you. We have excellent facilities for learning to dive and modern diving equipment that you can borrow while training. Indoor pool sessions take place at the Queen's Leisure Centre in Derby on Wednesdays at 9pm. When both you and your instructor are happy with the progress you are making, you can move on to the outdoor training sessions. This usually takes place at Stoney Cove and Dosthill, both of which are well established scuba diving training facilities. The club has several qualified instructors who have a wide range of diving experience gained over many years. They give their time freely to train new members of the club to dive. Training is based on an individual's needs and is usually done on a one to one basis. The objective is to make you into an all round competent and safe diver, and therefore skills are learnt at a pace which suits you. Being part of a diving club has lots of advantages, not least diving with people you know and trust. Your diving will be better and safer as a consequence. Please visit the training section of the BSAC website for details of the internationally recognised qualifications and the training involved. |
