2005: RIVER DIVE

This year's annual river dive wasn't so much a dive, more like general sillyness! We all poddled off to the river side at Chester Green, clambered down the muddy slope to the 'entry' point, sat on the side to don fins and then gently lowered ourselves down into half a metre of water. Walking with fins on is difficult at the best of times, and there must be some scientific calculation for the depth of water required for successful swimming.

After much hilarity and general faffing on the surface (not just by us), Dan and I descended. Max depth, 2.5m, and I think that was because my gauge got caught under a rock. Visibility? What visibility? The hefty downpours over the last week had sorted that out. Apparently it was better further down stream, but hey ho, hadn't someone mention something about a bbq?

We were all back out after 2 minutes head butting the river bed, except for Mike and Mark who spent 20 minutes out there... well, they do like potholing I guess.

Anyway, who wants to spend time in the water when there's food and beer to be had! We all had a great time, so cheers Graham (and everyone who helped out) for organising a fab do, and we'll all be back next year!
